"Very Cool - our dog had a barking her head off 'doggy freakout' with our typical ding dong doorbell. I thought 'If I could make the doorbell a recording of something nice...' - hey presto, the iChime! I recorded my daughter playing a nice piano tune and - no more 'doggy freakout'!!! Easy to install, works great! - Mike, Novato CA
"My wife really misses our son who is away at college, so the last time he was home, he recorded 'Mom, Someone is at the door!'. Now we hear his voice every time someone rings our bell." - L. P., San Jose CA
"What a great product. On Halloween, when our doorbell is used most often, the kids go nuts! Scary sounds are great fun for little ones.
I do a standing Monday Night Football party and I recorded Hank Williams '...are you ready for some football!'
Everything from real door chimes, (wife's favorites), goofball phrases like ...there's someone at the door!' and cool tunes. I set it to cycle through selections so you never know what is next.
They're right, ringing my doorbell is no longer the same! Next season I will definitely record the Cal Bears Fight song just to tick off my Stanford friends!
This is a well done product, installation was a snap, I replaced my faded 'ding dong' bell, same two wire interface as my 35 year old bell, my lighted doorbell button still worked! Does need batteries though but the manual says they will last forever." - John M, San Jose CA

"Just what I was looking for! This really brightens up our pre-school. The kids LOVE it. As an incentive, we let our 'student of the week' choose or record the greeting to be used the following week. " - Sandy F. Dayton OH |

"I was going to invent one of these but iChime works even better than I imagined!" - Shirley H, Springfield IL
"I am not very handy so I was a little skeptical of installing a wired doorbell, but I must admit it was as easy as they say - just disconnected two wires from the old ding dong and hooked up my new iChime. It's great. There are some really cheesy sounding products out there (I tried one) but the quality of this one is is excellent.
It comes off the wall easily for setup and recording. The built-in sounds are good by themselves but I got it to record my own. I like to experiment with different sounds based on who I know will be coming over. Everyone who hears it wants one! Right now I have it setup to play my six year son saying I'll be right there! Should be fun at Christmas time to have it play the built in Holiday songs like Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls.

"This is an amazing doorbell. Ours sings the theme song from 'Welcome Back Kotter'. Sweet, huh? My husband loves it as much as I do.'" - Misty C |

If you are anything like me, you probably thought all the words that start with the letter ‘i’ have been used up, well I guess I was wrong. The iChimes Doorbell is suppose to replace your perfectly working ding dong style doorbell with whatever sound or song you can imagine. You can choose from pre-programmed selections, record your own song with the built-in microphone, iPod, CD Player, PC, or MP3 with line-in jack. So, dear reader, if you had to replace your doorbell with any tune, what would you choose? Here is my personal pick ( and no you can’t copy me). - uberreview.com

"Cool Gadget / Invention Of The Day. Doorbells typically sing the same sad song, which is why the iChime is for you. It includes 60 recordings, from holiday carols to a barking dog, but the real genius comes from the six customizable spaces for tracks from your PC, iPod or your own musical creations that are recorded using the built-in microphone." - askmen.com

"Sometimes we get our hands on a product that turns out to be more fun than we could have ever imagined. Such is the case with the iChime. This customizable doorbell can be set to play any of the 50 or so included songs/sounds (everything from holiday music to a dog barking) or one of 6 custom recordings that you can change anytime. You can add custom sounds/songs with the built-in microphone or use the audio input jack to connect your iPod or PC. It's an easy two-wire replacement of your existing doorbell, and works with lighted and non-lighted buttons. You can also order an auxiliary speaker to hook up outside your door so guests can clearly hear your custom doorbell. The first two custom choices loaded onto our iChime? "The Imperial March" and "We'll do it live" - uncrate.com

"When you think ring tones, you may not have a doorbell in mind, but why not? Now our quest to have Captain Picard’s doorbell sound in our very own abode has met with success, with a product that can do that and more: The iChime. Wire this battery-operated box up to your existing doorbell, and it’ll play one of its dozens of included sounds. You’ll mount it so it’s easy to take down and program yourself, letting you change its tunes or record six of your own audio files using the headphone jack from your MP3 player. " - dvice.com

"It seemed funny at the time, replacing our innocuous door bell chime with Anita Ward's 70's disco rendition of "Ring My Bell." The first time the UPS guy came to the door, it even elicited a laugh from my girlfriend. But then I began opening the door and jamming the bell with my thumb whenever I wanted to get intimate. A starter horn, if you will. This also seemed to go over well. Months passed. It became part of our coital routine. One day, I came home to see a long line of UPS men waiting in front of my apartment; each would walk up to the door, push the bell gingerly and drop his trousers around his ankles as the slender forearms of my girlfriend yanked him inside. "Maybe Alice Cooper saying, 'Welcome to my nightmare', or some sound bytes from vintage TV like, 'Lucy, I’m home'. How about Pink Floyd, 'Hello, hello… Is there anybody in there?' - Conner F., slipperybrick.com

"Doorbells get a little exciting with the iChime doorbell which replaces the ubiquitous ding-dong with something more musical and pleasing to your ears. The iChime has six genres of music ranging from classic chimes to special occasions, built into it. And, audiophiles who might soon get bored with these tunes can plug in their iPods, other MP3 players or even their PCs for that matter and load their favourite songs onto the iChime which will promptly play them when somebody buzzes the doorbell. You could even add your personal touch and record your voice onto the iChime. Installing the iChime is an easy affair with only two wires, that you need to attach to your home’s wiring system. For all this, the iChime has sixty seconds of recording built into it, which predictably runs on flash memory. " - review at hometone.org

"I’m not sure how much more mileage they can get out of the letter “i”, but here’s another product brought to you by the letter “i”. The iChime Doorbell will replace your ding dong style doorbell with any sound in the universe that you can think of. You can choose pre-programmed selections, record your own song with the built-in microphone, or use an iPod, CD Player, PC, or MP3 with line-in jack. What this means is that doorbells are going the way of ringtones and anything is fair game. Maybe Alice Cooper saying, “Welcome to my nightmare”, or some sound bytes from vintage TV like, “Lucy, I’m home”. How about Pink Floyd, “Hello, hello… Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home?” It will cost you $90, but if you are easily entertained like me, it’s probably money well spent." - toysgadget.com

"The device easily integrates with your existing wired door chime system and features a 2 wire ‘no mistake’ installation process that I’m sure people will still screw up. The control panel/speaker is where you actually make the recording, either through the built-in microphone or a line-in jack for hooking up an MP3 or CD player. It’s limited to just storing six-custom chimes at a time, but you can re-record them whenever you need. A USB connection and the ability to upload sound files directly to the iChime would have definitely been preferred, but their website actually spins that con as a pro, claiming it doesn’t need complicated USB software. So your potential clients can’t handle a USB connection, but they can install and properly wire their own doorbells?" - ohgizmo.com
- iChime response: "Exactly right! We think iChime is the perfect combination of form and function."

Lord of the Ringers: The iChime
Perhaps the world's most customizable doorbell, the iChime is like a ringtone for your house. You can load it with the songs--or sound effects--of your choice, including seasonal effects (ghastly ghouls on Halloween, Christmas carols in December). It holds up to six ringers at a time, which can be easily altered with the flip of a switch. If nothing else, this gizmo should put a smile on the pizza guy's face. - diversionmag.com |
